The key to communication in any medium is having the information in a form that the end user can access easily. This is especially true with the increasing use of the Internet and Web sites as the primary method of sharing news, ideas and product information.

That puts Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary (RSS) at the heart of this method of communication, along with the need to convert RSS feeds.

RSS is the way information such as headlines, updates and limited content is distributed to a large group, organizing that information for comfortable reading.

Methods for converting RSS feeds as Web-based content include having a third party host display the feed contents, using scripts to convert the feeds, and other methods.

The "engine" takes small amounts of text or HTML and puts these smaller pieces together with templates designed to be "user friendly." Many of these basic services are free, if used for non-commercial purposes. The user finds a Web page that has needed content, creates an RSS feed through the service (customized for the individual).

The service takes the source address, converts it and sends it to the reader/aggregator. At this point the content is displayed to the end user. RSS aggregators/readers now access the Web sites you care about on your behalf and organize the results for you.
